Specific application of ESR:

In general, the clinical application of ESR is mainly to observe diseases such as tuberculosis and rheumatic fever. ESR can also be used to identify certain diseases: myocardial infarction and angina pectoris, pelvic inflammatory mass and uncomplicated ovarian cyst, gastric cancer compared with gastric ulcer, the former increased rapidly; the latter was normal or slightly increased.

The increase of leukocytes and their classification changes are directly affected by bacteriocins and tissue decomposition, so the changes appear early, which is more important for the diagnosis of acute inflammation and the observation of curative effects. , especially affected by the increase of fibrinogen and globulin, relatively speaking, it appears later, so it is more valuable for observing chronic inflammation, especially judging the curative effect. In view of the fact that the increased ESR is mostly caused by the change of the protein composition in the plasma, and this change cannot be eliminated quickly once it occurs, the interval between the re-examination of the ESR should not be too short, at least one week.

Vacuum blood collection tube

Erythrocyte sedimentation is a blood rheological phenomenon, which can reflect the aggregation degree of red blood cells.

Heparin is a mucopolysaccharide containing sulfate groups. The disadvantage of its anticoagulation is that it can destroy the Zeta potential on the surface of erythrocytes, so that the distance between erythrocytes is narrowed, and it is easy to aggregate and form a ribbon. At this time, the sedimentation rate of the erythrocyte group is faster than that of a single erythrocyte. much faster. In addition, the upper part of the tube is open and affected by atmospheric pressure. Therefore, the blood erythrocyte sedimentation rate (heparin anticoagulation) is significantly faster than that of Wei's method.

Due to the change of experimental conditions (anticoagulants), strictly speaking, the ESR in blood flow is not the traditional Wen's method, so the reference value (18+-7mm/h) is also higher than that of the Wei's and Wen's methods. Since erythrocyte sedimentation rate is related to factors such as Hct, plasma viscosity, erythrocyte surface charge, and bridging force between erythrocytes, in order to make erythrocyte sedimentation rate more accurately reflect the aggregation of erythrocytes, the method of equation K value is usually used to correct the influence of Hct on ESR. The larger the K value, the higher the aggregation of red blood cells. The K value of the ESR equation is to express the relationship between ESR and hematocrit in the form of an equation.
